ENGINEER’S REPORT. At the monthly meeting of the Horowhenua Power Board held at Levin last Thursday, the following report was submitted by the en-. gineer for the period to December 12th:— > On account of the removal of the Whitaunui scutching shed, from Marotiri to the main mill, the service line has been removed and alterations made to the sub-station to allow the installation of an extra 50 k.v.a. transformer and a Kelman oil switch installed to control the sub-station. Installations.—During the period 31 applications from new consumers and 39 applications for extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising seven ranges, 12 waterheaters, three milking motors and seven industrial motors. Twenty new consumers, and 22 extensions have been connected, including six ranges, nine waterheaters,' four milking and separating motors, seven industrial motors, making a total increase of 78.821 k.w. for the period. Seventy-five single and two polyphase meters have been tested and three single phase repaired and retested. General. —I w'ould ask for authority to pui’chase five transformers, between 15 and 50 b.v.a., and about five tons of bare copper cable.
Power Supply.—l do not think that there are likely to be any restrictions caused, through water shortage this summer, as good progress has been made with the works at Waikaremoana, and the Public Works Department are confident that they will lie in a position to put one machine into service by the end of this month, should it be necessary.
The report was adopted, and authority was given for the purchase of .the transformers and copper cable requested.
