The attendance of visitors at the local beach was not so large during the holidays as.-was expected, but it is pleasing to note that throughout no accident of any kind marred the pleasures of holiday makers. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, the attendance at the Manawatu Racing Club’s meeting was large, but. the totalisator returns showed a decrease of £10,648. Wet weather was responsible for a set-back to the Auckland Racing Chip’s Rllerslie meeting yesterday, the totalisator receipts showing the heavy decrease of £35,729 10/-. 'Taranaki meeting also opened under unfavourable weather conditions, but the attendance was good. The totalisator decrease in this case amounted to £2,858. Dunedin was fortunate in experiencing ideal holiday weather, and the summer race meeting was largely attended, : but the totalisator receipts decreased by £2,145.
