SCHOOL CONCERT AND PRIZEGIVING.

AT THE SEASIDE. The annual school concert and prize-giving at the Beach sideschool took place in the Beach Hall last evening and was well attended. Among those present were the headmaster of the Foxton D.II. School and members of the school committee. A very entertaining programme of choruses, action songs, and recitations was submitted in which all the children took part, and Master McPherson officiated as chairman, and like a good chairman, was brief in his announcements. The items were got off without any undue “stage waits” but despite this fact it was 10.30 before the prize-giving took place. The- items reflected credit upon the pupils and teachers, Misses Thompson and McMillan. At the conclusion of the concert Mr. Mason congratulated both pupils and teachers upon the entertainment. He paid a special tribute to Miss Thompson and regretted that the school was losing her services. ITe a Iso thanked parents and beach residents for the interest they.had taken in the welfare of the side-school and pupils. Mr. Hornblow presented the prizes and in this connection no scholar was overlooked. The usual cheers and seasonable greetings followed by supper, concluded a very successful gathering.
