VALUABLE VIOLIN.

PROPERTY OF AUCKLAND RESIDENT. Auckland, December 12. An old Cremona violin, made by the famous maker, Lorenzo Storioni (1751-1799) is at present undergoing- repairs in the workshop of an Auckland violin-maker, James Hewitt. The instrument, which is worth anything from £2OO to £4OO, belongs to Mr. G. G. Mac Lennon, of the Bank of New Zealand, Onehunga, an amateur violinist of considerable ability. Mr, Mac Lennon’s violin is a sister-instrument to the one used by Kubelik during his tour through New Zealand 18 years ago. Violins of this make are very scarce. 'Storioni was the last of the celebrated makers of Cremona, in Lombardy, Italy, the birthplace of Stradivarius. His violins are handsome in appearanee, slightly arched, and are of great intrinsic merit. Mr. Mac Lennon purchased his violin in Europe.
