LEVEL CROSSING FATALITY.

ONE KILLED, FIVE INJURED. Hamilton, December 2. A level crossing accident occurred at Frankton Junction yesterday afternoon, when a motor-car driven by Patrick Deegan, aged 48, miner, of Pukemiro, and containing five other passengers —‘Mr. Alexander John Hamilton, aged 31, married, of Frankton; Mr. and Airs. Charles Francis Harold Scown, and their two children, Charles aged 10 and Mary aged six—collided with a goods train approaching. Frankton from Mercer. The car was overturned and caught fire. Mr. Hamilton died in the hospital from head injuries three hours later. The condition of the boy, Charles Scown, is critical. The injuries of the father and daughter are also serious. ' Deegan was afterwards arrested on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge; of a car.
