RACING.
There was a very large attendance of the public at the second day of the Feilding Jockey Club’s spring meeting on Saturday. The totalisator for the day handled £21,034, as compared with £20,481 for the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £46,258, which was a decrease of £4867 from the total twelve months ago. Results:— Cheltenham Hack Hurdles.Elysianor 1, Elicit 2, Hymestrason 3. Won by a length. Time 2.49 2-5. Novice 'Stakes. —Cloyne 1, Havering 2, The Warden 3. Won by a head. Time 1.16. The winner was ridden by W. J. Bowden. St. Andrew’s Handicap.—Merry Damon 1, Ruanui 2, Vivo 3. W’on by half a length. Time 1.54 4-5. Oroua Nursery Handicap. —'Ceremony 1, Equitant 2, Courtlike 3. Wk»n by three lengths. Time 1.2 4-5. Rongotea Hack Handicap. — Stanchion 1, Gold Bag 2, Acred 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.57 3-5. Colyton Handicap.—The Raider 1, Lysander 2, Miss Pat (Mr. F. J. Carmont’s) 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.14. Nikau Hack Handicap. —Calapat 1, Richfield 2, Zippor 3. Won by a head. Time 1.14 3-5. Empire Handicap. —Paul Lucerne 1, The Swell 2, Mt. Heath 3. W!on by a head. Time 1.28. As the result at Pinna falling in the hurdle race at Feilding on Friday, T. Stokes received a knock on the head and leg injuries. Several horses fell during the meeting but none of the riders was sei’iously injured. Metcalf suffered the most with a fracture of the left wrist and the little finger of the right hand. He is making good recovery in the Palmerston North Hospital.
