The Rev. George Budd, superintendent of Home Missions, has been nominated as Moderator of the Presbyterian' General Assembly for 1929.'

The friends of Mr. A. E. Scott will regret to learn that he has been confined to his bed for the last day or so with a strained back. Rev. Father McDermott intends paying a visit to Ireland early in the New Year. He will be away about nine months.

Mr. J. McKenna, who for some years has been the proprietor of the Manawatu Hotel, has sold out to Mr. P. Burns, of Feilding. Mr. Burns took over yesterday. Mr, and Mrs. McKenna will leave Foxton in a few days for a holiday trip to the Wairarapa, Taranaki, and Rotorua districts.

The friends of Mr. W. Edlin will regret to learn that he was taken seriously ill on Saturday evening and had to be removed to the Palmerston North hospital. It is understood that Mr. Edlin is suffering from an ulcerated stomach but the extent of his illness will not be known until after an X-ray examination has been made.

A message from Pahiatua "States that, at a largely-attended meeting of the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, a resolution was unanimously carried requesting the Minister, the Rev. F. McDonald, to remain with the congregation, Mr. McDonald haying received a call to Kaitangata, Otago. The matter will be dealt with by the W'airarapa Presbytery, At the Assembly at Auckland this week, speeches were made eulogisting the work of .the Rev. Mr. McDonald, also his wife, during his pastorate.

The friends of Mr. and Mrs. H. Signal, of Te Horo, will regret to learn of the death of their only son, aged 2 years, which took place at the Wellington Hospital yesterday morning. The child took ill at Te Horo on Sunday and was removed to the Wellington -Hospital the same day. It was discovered that tho little sufferer had contracted bronchial pneumonia and an operation was immediately carried out, but the child succumbed the following morning. The funeral .will take place at Otaki to-mor-row.
