NARROW ESCAPE.

MR. LINKLATER’ I S CAR GOES OVER BANK. Mr. J. Linklater, M.P., narrowly missed a serious accident on Saturday while proceeding to Levin in his car. At a turn at the bottom of Buckley hill, he applied his brakes rather suddenly with the result that the car skidded, ending up at right angles to the road and hanging over the edge of a 10 to 12 feet drop. “Nearly another by-election,” Avas the M.P.’s laconic comment as he scrambled from his motor more shaken than hurt.
