Mr. J. Linldater, M.P., paid a brief visit to Foxton this after - noon. Mr. D. 'Christie, president of the local Horticultural Society, attended the Rongotea Horticultural Society’s shoiw this afternoon. Commissioner James Hay, 0.8. E., the head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, will leave by the Tahiti on Friday for England to take part in the conference of the High Council of the Salvation Army which has been called in London in January on account of the state of health of General Bramwell Booth. During his absence the arrangements in New Zealand will be in the hands of Mrs. Hay and the" departmental officers. At the age of 40 years, Mr. Herbert Thomas Waghorn, a wellknown resident of Palmerston North, died on Saturday morning. As the result of war injuries deceased had been confined to his bed for the last five months, but despite the severe affliction he suffered through the loss of both his legs, lie was always, genial, always cheerful, and he was held in very high esteem by those who knew him. Deceased was in the employof Dalgety and Co., Ltd., holding the position of assistant accountant at the time of his death. He is survived by a widow and two young daughters. The Bunnythorpe correspondent of the Palmerston Standard writes that an interesting case, possibly hitherto unrecorded in the Dominion, has occurred of children having four great-grandmothers and two great grandfathers living as well as both grandfathers and grandmothers'. The childlren. are Raymond, Monica and Audrey Jepson, of Rongotea. The ages of the four great grandmothers total 314 years and the great grandfathers 166 years. The great grandmothers are: Mrs. W. Baylis, 81 years, Palmerston North; Mrs. E. J. Martin, 7S years, Foxton; Mrs. E. Clevely, 75 years, Bunnythorpe; Mrs. J. Jepson, 80 years, Bunnythorpe. The great grandfathers are: Mr. E. J. Martin, 88 years, Foxton; Mr. E. Clevely, 78 years, Bunnythorpe.
