SYSTEMATIC THEFTS.
♦ BY MARRIED WOMEN,, < usri Auckland, Nov. 14. Mary Madeline Jessie Thompson, aged 35, and Ada May Edgecombe, aged 45, two married women avlio were both employed as domestics, admitted extensive and systematic thefts from city shops in the Police Court to-day. They jointly pleaded guilty to stealing goods of a value of £IOO, and Mrs. Edgecombe alone to the theft of goods of a value of £3B. When Mrs. Edgecombe’s house was searched stolen goods worth £l4O were found there. But for the fact that one of the accused was in ill-health, the Magistrate (Mr. F. K. Hunt) said that he would have sentenced both to two years’ iimprisonment. Edgecombe was fined £4O and Thompson £2O, ten days being allowed in which to pay.
