DENTIST WHO CUT PATIENT’S ARTERY.
CLAIM FOR £122. Hamilton, Nov. 13. An unusual claim against a dentist for £122 19s 6d for an operation allegedly negligently performed was heard by the Hamilton Magistrate, Mr. Wjilson, to-day. Plaintiff, Mrs. Janet Lyburn, sued H. W. Frost, Ltd., whose employee, J. E. ‘Kirkland, performed the operation. Kirkland had informed plaintiff, who desired a new denture, that, a (lap of skin on the loAver jaw should be removed. After the operation, blood gushed from her mouth. Plaintiff alleged Dr. Douglas had been called in by Kirkland and he asked, “What have you been doing here? Have you ever seen an artery cut like this?” Dr. Douglas stitched the wound and later Kirkland removed the stitches. A further operation Avas i eqnired because the gum and cheek Avere adhering. She Avas in hospital for seven days. Tavo doctors gave evidence in support of plaintiff’s case. The hearing Avas adjourned.
