BAGBY ACQUITTED.

ON SERIOUS CHARGE. Wellington, Last Night. Six minutes were all that were required by the jury n the Supreme Court to-day to acquit Walter Scott Bagby, a jockey, of a charge of rape at Masterton. Judge Reed was on the Bench. Bagby’s counsel suggested the likely story was one of consent. Judge Reed said it was not safe to convict on the evidence. The girl’s story, he said, was a most extraordinary one.
