ATHLETIC AND CYCLING CLUB.
* ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Foxton Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held in Walls’ rooms on Thursday evening. Mr. M. E. Perreau presided over an attendance of forty members. The report and balance-sheet, the latter disclosing a credit of £33, were read and adopted. The following officers were elected: —Patron: J. Linklater Esq., M.P.; president: M. E. Perreau Esq.; vice-presidents: Messrs H. Hutchins, F. A. Mason, Heyes, F. Robinson, H. E. Garbett, G. F. Smith, and Fred. Robinson; committee: Mesdames Broad, Langdon, Messrs Doel, Parkin, East, Heyes■Honour, W. Thompson, Des Jardines, G. F. Smith, Walter Brown, Hinds, and Chalk; secretary and treasurer: Mr. L. A. Couch. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Des Jardines for his past services as secretary. It was decided to register the Club as the Foxton Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club. It was decided that a deputation wait upon the Borough Council re permission to peg out and prepare a cycle track on Easton Park in readiness for racing, and for the holding of an athletic meeting with the object of augmenting funds for the laying down of a permanent banked cycle track. The chairman remarked that it was gratifying to see such a good attendance of athletes to foster the spirit of sportsmanship in the town. He felt sure the public would rally round the club and render it support. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated a very enthusiastic meeting.
