[Advt.] OPEN LETTER TO THE PUBLIC.

I In view of the current rumours that the local flaxmills are likely to suspend milling operations in the near future, we, the undersigned 'grocers trading in Foxton, wish to inform the public of. the town and district that we are unable to give further credit to any person other than an approved customer who has made definite arrangements for such accommodation. -While we regret having to make this announcement we deem it advisable to do so in order to save friction and unnecessary wrangling in the future. Our customers must realise that we have extended to them every consideration during the winter months and now- find that, as a direct result of such leniency, we -have reached the limit of our own resources and it is impossible to do business except on a cash basis. We have to pay our warehouses and meet our own obligations notwithstanding the fact that many of cur customers have not paid us, and while we regret having to adopt the attitude indicated in this letter, we feel sure that our customers will realise that we are absolutely forced into that position. We would request them, therefore, not to ask to be supplied with goods upon credit, unless they are in constant work. (Signed) A. E. TONGS, The COLOSSEUM STORES LTD (W. Giblett, Manager) H. E. GARBETT.
