MILLERS AND EMPLOYEES IN CONFERENCE.

DESPUTE OVER SCUTCHING, UNSETTLED. As suggested at the recent Palmerston North sittings of the Arbitration Court, a conference was held’ on Saturday between the flaxmill owners and employees’ representatives, with the object of coming to an agreement concerning the interpretation of the award for flax workers engaged on automatic scutchers.

Messrs H. A. Seifert, C. H. Speirs, and E. Sutton represented the millers, while Messrs Bromley, P. T. Robinson and Hillier advanced the case for the employees. The representatives of the parties concerned conferred for over two hours but were unable to arrive at.'any satisfactory agreement. The owners finally intimated that they would submit the matter to the Court of Arbitration at its next session in Palmerston North.
