THE FOXTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
WHAT THE BOROUGH COUNCIL THINKS OF IT. At last night’s Borough Council meeting an invitation was read from the Foxton Chamber of Commerce to the Mayor, Councillors and Town Clerk to attend a social function in the Masonic Hall on Friday evening next. The Mayor said that it was very courteous of the Chamber to extend an invitation to the Council to attend the function. It was very pleasing to note how the Chamber and the Council worked in harmony together. The Chamber of Commerce was a very useful body in the town. Cr. Ross endorsed the Mayor’s remarks, and as a member of the Chamber extended a hearty welcome to all present to attend the function. Cr. Walker said the Chamber was a very active body which had done a great deal of good work in the town for which they were to be commended. The Chamber had, many years ago, been responsible for the formation of the Foxton Harbour Board. Their recent activities in getting a new Courthouse for Foxton had alone justified the body’s existence.
