PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
CAKE AND PRODUCE AFTERNOON. A cake and produce afternoon was held by the ladies of the local Presbyterian Church in the Town Hall supper-room yesterday afternoon, and despite’ the inclement weather, was well attended and the effort was successful both from a financial and social point of view. The stalls and those in charge were as follows: —Cake, Mesdames A. F. and A. W. Stevenson, Alex. Ross, and Thomson; sweets, Misses B. Speirs and Patterson (2); jumble, Mesdames Barron and Nicol (Oroua Downs); produce, Mesdames Roore, McEwen, Satherley, and Munn; afternoon tea, Mesdames S. Easton, Misses J. Ross and Speirs with assistants. During the afternoon much appreciated vocal items were contributed by Mesdames Corn, Doel and Riches. A wood-sawing competition attracted eight competitors, and was won by Mrs. McEwen, who cut through a 3 x 2 block in 10 seconds. ■
