BOWLING.
Foxton Bowling Club intend opening their green for the season on Wednesday of next week. Levin, ,Feilding and Palmerston Clubs will officially open their respective greens' on Saturday next. It is hoped Foxton Club will be represented by one rink at each of the above greens. Dannevh’ke and Manawatu Clubs intend opening for play on the 13th inst.
The date of Shannon Club’s opening is not yet to hand. A lonimittee meeting of the Foxton Bowling Club was held last Friday evening to discuss matters relative to the opening of the green which is to take place on October 10th. To-morrow evening the President (Mr. W. S. Heyes), and Mr. D. Christie will represent. the local Club at a conference between the Levin, Shannon, and Foxton Clubs, to be held at Levin to discuss the question of extending the present Triangular Shield competition to take in Otaki. A “working bee” will be held on the local green to-morrow in view of the near approach of opening day. All members must attend.
