PERSONAL.
A very enjoyable house party was given by Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Thompson at their residence, last evening, to celebrate the coming of age of their daughter, Miss Lucy Thompson. The young lady -was the re-
cipient of many tokens of goodwill and best wishes for her future. The death is announced of Mr. William Hume, of “Raho Ruru,” Pirinoa, Wairarapa, which occurred on Saturday morning, following upon an attack of pneumonia. The late Mr. IHume, who was 58 years of age, was one of the best-known settlers in the Lower Valley, where he spent the whole of his life, and was generally esteemed by a very large circle of friends and acquaintances. He served on many local bodies, and was always willing to support any movement for the good of the district. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. Peter Hume (one of the pioneers), and he leaves a wife and family of seven boys and one girl. Mr. H. T. Hume, of Lansdowne, is the only surviving brother.
