BIRTHDAY PARTY.
A pleasant social function took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. IT. W. Satherley, of No. 1 Line, Foxton, last evening, on the occasion of the celebration of the coming of age of their only daughter, Avis. Friends of Miss Satherley foregathered and an enjoyable time was spent with music, games and competitions. A very tasty supper was' provided and a handsome two-decker cake was cut by Miss Satherley. All joined in wishing her health and happiness for many years to come. Miss 'Satherley, who wore a string of pearls, the gift of her father, in fulfilment of an old Scottish custom, was the recipient of many beautiful gifts whicih included a present from a great aunt in New York and several cheques and also received congratulatory telegrams from all parts of New Zealand. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Satherley and family, Mr. and Mrs. Satherley snr., and Mr. and Mrs. Cook snr., (grandparents), Mrs. Williams, Misses Hughes, McEwen (2), Barnard, Messrs J. Christie, P. Honour and Chalk.
