N.Z. FLAXMILLERS’ ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the N.Z. Flaxmillers’ Association was held in the Racing Club office, Foxton, this afternoon, presided over by Mr. C. Speirs (President). Also present were Messrs J. S. Moir, W. H. Wilson, 11. Seifert, W. Nye snr., 6. Rough, A. A. Brown, W. Speirs, E. Sutton, D. R. Ogilvy, and A. Fraser. REDUCTION IN RAILWAY FREIGHT. The president reported on a conference held in Shannon between himself and Mr. J. S. Moir and the commercial agent of the N.Z. Railways in connection with the suggested reduction in railway freight on hemp. A reduction of 25 per cent, in the ruling prices was suggested by the Association representatives. After thoroughly discussing the matter the official stated that the matter was one of policy and he would submit his report in connection therewith to the proper authorities and that the result would be forthcoming in due course. The chairman said he thought the decision of the Railway Department would be given to delegates of the Association when they met the Prime Minister at a future date in connection with the sliding scale, which meeting was to be convened by the Prime Minister. The delegates to the above conference will be Messrs C. H. Speirs, H. Berry, and J. S. Moir.
