IN BOY’S CLOTHING.
A TROUBLESOME GIRL. Christchurch, Sept. 20. “She’s a girl all right, sir, though she looks like a boy,” said Sub-In-spector Fitzpatrick to Mr. Mosley. S.M., Avhen MariaJVfarks was charged Avitli being an idle and disorderly person, having insufficient lawful visible means of support. The accused, with close-cut hair, a man’s coat, shirt, and trousers, stepped into the dock. The sub-in-spector stated that the girl had escaped from the Bunvood Home on 26th August, and since then had been in Lyttelton, leading a loose and immoral life. There was provision for the transfer of such an inmate to a Borstal institution, and the matron of the Bimvood Home had already taken steps in that direction.
The accused Avas remanded in custody till 27th September.
