Miss E. Owen, of the Wellington Public Hospital nursing staff, is at present spending her annual leave with her parents in Foxton. Mrs. J. Claris, of Wellington, and formerly of Foxton, is spending a holiday in Foxton, where she is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Bullard, of Avenue Rd. Mi-s. Henderson, of Dunedin, is at present paying a visit to her mother, Mrs. Gibb and sister, Mrs. John Ross, of Thynne Street, Foxton. vfi'he death occurred at Palmerston North on Tuesday of one of Palmerston North’s oldest residents ■‘“in the person of Mr. Ernest Daniel Browne, aged 68 years. Mr. Alex. Browne* of Foxton, is a son of the deceased gentleman. The death occurred at Napier on Tuesday of Mr. James Henry Coleman, one of Hawke’s Bay’s oldest and best known settlers, at t]je advanced age of 94 years. In the early days of Hawke’s Bay, deceased was a prominent pastoralist and stock breeder and helped to found the famous Blackhead stud of Shorthorn cattle and Lincoln sheep.
Boisterous weather was experienced throughout this district yesterday, a south-westerly blowing with hurricane force.
