ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES.
BIG SUM INVOLVED. Christchurch, Sept. 18. In the Magistrate’s Court, John Bullars McKenzie, aged twenty-five, was charged with obtaining £57 19s from the Checker Service Station Company on June 15, by fraud by saying that he had a timber-cutting contract at Darfield. The Chief-Detective said that 30 charges, involving £7OO, would be preferred against McKenzie, who was remanded until September 25.
