CROQUET.
SHANNON CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Shannon iCroquet Club was held in the pavilion on Thursday last. Mrs. Mason presided over a fair attendance of members. In presenting her annual report, Mrs. Mason stated that the membership last year was 18 playing members and 7 nonplaying, which must be considered very satisfactory for a country club. Four prominent members had -left, Mesdames Watterston, McLachlan, King and Hunt, and their loss was to be regretted. The enlarging of the green had cost the club £ls, but it was money well spent. Mrs. Harding holds the premier place at the top of the- ladder. Mrs. Franks won the breaks competition for senior players, and Mrs King for first-year players, and also the junior singles. The Nicholson Mallets were secured by Mesdames Franks and Mason, and held for the games. The trophies were then handed on, in accordance with the rules, going to Manakau. The treasurer then presented the bal-ance-sheet, showing a credit of £6 2s sd. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President: Mrs. C. C. Franks; vicepresident: Mrs. J. T. Bovis; secretary and treasurer: Mrs. J. S. Spencer; assistant secretary: Mrs. A. Mason; committee: Mesdames Roach, Braun-Snelling and Blaikie. It was decided that the tea arrangements and subscription remain as before, and the opening day would be held on the same day as the bowling club.
