FATAL ACCIDENT.
CAR CRASHES INTO CONCRETE BRIDGE. Masterton, Yesterday. A fatal accident occurred at al.i out 10.15 o’clock on Saturday night on the Masterton-Carterton road. A five-seater car, driven by Mr. Ray Hausmann, crashed into the wing of a small concrete bridge. The impact must have been terrific, as the car was completely wrecked, being crumpled up like a concertina. One of the occupants, a man named C. R. Gurr, a traveller for the International University Society, of Auckland, aged about 24, was killed. Mr. Robert Corey, aged 24, a passenger in the car, was admitted to hospital with leg injuries. The driver received slight concussion and the other occupants escaped with slight injuries. Earlier in the evening, at about 0.15, a man named Robert Greeks, of Masterton, aged 60 years, was knocked down in the same vicinity by a motor truck. He was admitted to hospital with head injuries.
