TOP DRESSING.
REQUEST FOR EXPERIMENT IN THIS DISTRICT. At Monday evening’s Borough Council meeting a reply was received from the Massey College to the request for top dressing experiment to be carried out in the Foxton district. The letter mentioned that the College appreciated the value that would accrue from the reclamation of the large areas of waste land in this district and stated that the suggestion put forward by the Council would be placed before the next meeting of the College executive, which would be held shortly.
€r. Lucinsky, who is keenly interested in the proposal and at whose suggestion the matter was first mooted, said that Foxton was an ideal place for the carrying out of such experimental work. There was practically every class of soil here. He suggested that an endeavour be made to have experimental work carried out somewhere in the vicinity of the Avenue. He regretted that he was not able to offer the use of his property, but all his land had been top-dressed already. The Mayor said inquiries could be made for the use of land somewhere within the borough so that everything would be in readiness in the event of a favourable reply being received from the 'College. The proposed work was very much in the interests of the people of Foxton.
