THE TASMAN FLIGHT.
TWO POSTPONEMENTS. WEATHER CONDITIONS UNSUITABLE. The Southern Cross and its crew were ready on Saturday to start on the flight across the .Tasman Sea, but Dr. Kidson, the Dominion Meteorologist, reported that the weather conditions were unsuitable, and a postponement was decided upon. On Sunday the reports of Dr. Kidson were unfavourable, and it was decided again to postpone the start. The flight will be made at the first favourable opportunity independent of the moon. INVITATION FROM GOVERNMENT. The Prime Minister (Right Hon. J. G. Coates) on Saturday sent the following cablegram to SquadronLeadcr Kingsford Smith: — “New Zealand Government extend cordial invitation to yourself and companions to be our guests during your stay in Dominion. The Hon. Mr. Rolleston, Minister of Defence, will officially meet you on arrival. We send you our best wishes for safe and successful journey.”
