THE TRANS-TASMAN FLIGHT.

THE Southern Cross will hop off from Sydney this evening at 6 o’clock (7.30 p.m. New Zealand time)® in an attempt to cross the Tasman from Australia to New Zealand by air. The aviators have left nothing to chance and will be in continuous wireless communication. All going well they expect to reach Christchurch at .about 12.30 tomorrow. People in this locality will bo on the look-out. seaward for a glimpse of the plane to-morrow morning. Possibly Mount Egmont will be the first glimpse the aviators will get of New Zealand. It is hoped that the attempt will be successful.
