Mrs. J. B. Bennett, and her two daughters, of Taikorea, are spending the school holidays at Foxton beach.

Mrs. T. R. Hodder and Miss Lorn a Hodder, of “Aloka,” Palmerston North, are staying at Foxton beach. The funeral of the late Mrs. Alice Catherine Gibbs took place at Palmerston North yesterday. The Rev. W. H. Nicholas officiated at the graveside. Mesdames F. Robinson (president) and D. R. Barron (hon. secretary) are the Foxton delegates in attendance at the Plunket conference uoav in session in Wellington.

Mrs. Eliza Ormiston of Auckland, Avill be 100 years of age to-day, August 30th. Despite her advanced ago her health is good. She spends a good deal of time each day reading, and AA r hile taking an interest in current events she has more pleasure in talking of tlie many stirring events of her early days in NeAV Zealand, Mrsi. Ormiston’s recipe for a long life and a ripe old age is to eat brown bread. She Avas brought up on broAvn bread in her home in Cornwall, and Avhen they came out to Ncav Zealand Mr. Ormiston greAv his oAvn Avheat and ground it in a little hand mill. For years they tasted no other kind of bread.
