OBITUARY.
SIR WjILLIAM SIM. The death took place at Wellington last night of Sir William Sim, senior Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand. The late Sir William Sim presided over a sitting of the Supreme Court yesterday, but in the afternoon be became indisposed, and had to leave the Court, and retire to his hotel, where he passed away at 7.30 last evening. The late Sir William Sim was born at Wanganui on September 13, 1858, and took up the practice of law. in Dunedin, and became a partner of Sir Robert Stout. Together they wrote “Practice and Procedure in the Supreme Court,” a welf,-ikn!owii standard work. The late Sir William was a noted civil lawyer. In 1907 he wf,s appointed president of the Arbitration Court, and was appointed to the Supreme Court Bench in 1911. He paid a visit to England in 1923, remaining at Home for twelve months, and shortly after his return was appointed president of the Taxation Commission which sat in 1924 . He was Knighted in 1924.
