TOWN HALL. “Private Izzy Murphy,” the Master Picture, released by Master Pictures, at the Town Hall theatre to-night stars George Jessel. Featured with Jessel are Patsy Ruth Miller and Vera Gordon. An excellent company is in support, and the filming was directed by Lloyd Bacon. “Private Izzy Murphy” is the story of Izzy Goldberg, a young delicatessen keeper of New York, and of his dealing with the liish. For business' reasons he decides to change his name to “Murphy,” and goes overseas Avith an Irish regiment under that name. The story does not burlesque racial traits, but is a play with that “touch of nature” which “makes the whole world kin.” Also “Happy go luekies” (Comedy), News and Scenic. Usual prices. Laughter and drama are both promised in a picture of the younger generation, “High School Hero,” Fox Films latest feature at the Town Hall on Monday. Usual prices. ROYAL. The joys and sorrows of a carefree private in the American Army of Occupation in Germany after the Armistice are admirably disclosed in the Universal Jewel Production “Rash Privates,” which will be shown at the Royal theatre tonight. Lya de Putti, the famous continental screen star, is featured in this attraction, while the role of the prominent doughboy is played by the popular star, Malcolm McGregor who shows a penchant for comedy roles never before revealed. The acting in this picture is excellent. Miss de Putti has never before appeared to such advantage, while Malcolm McGregor presents a fine impersonation of a real fed-up soldier avlio suddenly discovers something to interest him. Excellent comedy work is provided by Eddie Gribbon in the role of the hard-boiled sergeant and Miss Zasu Pitts as the servant girl Avho is carried aAvay by the Sergeant’s aggressive manner. Others in the cast include James Marcus, Captain Ted Duncan, Bud Jamison and Les Bates. With “Buster’s home Life” (Comedy), News and Scenic. Prices 1/- and 1/6. Children half price.
