THIRD GRADE REPS. HOROWHENUA DEFEAT BUSH BY 18 POINTS TO 14. ■Favoured until fine weather, the Horowhenua Rugby third grade representatives had an excellent afternoon’s outing on Wednesday, when they travelled to Pahiatua by motor bus and played the Bush third reps. The game was a fast and exciting one, and it ended in a win for the visiting lads by 18 points to 14. When the teams were lined out, Horowhenua shorved * a slight advantage in the matter of weight, and in the early part of the game they seemed to be the superi-. or team, but as play progressed it became evident that the sides were: pretty closely matched. The visitors’ score consisted of six tries, while Bush were responsible for four tries, one of which was converted. Ten minutes before the conclusion, Bush were leading by 14 points to 12 and their forwards were playing with clever tactics of a type characteristic of their district, packing well, following up, and coming through their opponents ranks three or four at a time. Then the incidence of play changed somewhat. The Horowhenua backs livened up, and two tries were registered, the last being scored just on the call of time. Altogether the game was a. very interesting one* and it was much enjoyed by the participants, as well as by the spectators. It took place on the Pahiatua recreation ground, which was in capital order. .
