FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held in the Board room of tlu* Manawatu Oroua Power Board, Palmerston North, yesterday, and was presided over by Mr. Linklater, M.P., chairman, at 1.45 p.m. Also present: Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., W. E. Barber, E. R. B. Holben, A. J. Follow, H. Berry, M. Mortenson, J. Chrystnll and the secretary (Air. I?. Rangiheuea). CORRESPONDENCE.
From Mr. Osborne, asking for concession on 22 eases galvanised iron and 54 tons sugar. —Resolved to take no action in the matter of making any concession, but to invite Mr. Osborne to a local committee meeting when the subject matter pertaining to his various complaints would be explained. From same, asking for dates showing how the storage charge of 18/4 was computed and requesting letter to be placed before the Board. —Resolved to instruct the secretary to furnish Mr. Osborne with particulars. From Mr. E. W. Holbrook, submitting claim for 1 case soap valued at £1 18s Od. —Received.
From Ilodder and Tolley, per Messrs Levin and Co., submitting claim for 11 sacks wheat short received at Oroua Downs. —Received. From Manawatu Herald Co., submilting claim amounting to 15/8 for 1 tin of Nu-oil. —Resolved to endorse the secretary’s action in referring writer’s claim to the Foxton Shipping Co., for settlement.
Resolved to leave the matter of ascertaining every month the Board’s .financial position in the hands of the local committee. Resolved to confirm lease of lot 215 from Board to Alexander Ross. Resolved to again write Mr. Osborne concerning the question of providing drays with suitable buffers to obviate wear and tear to the old wharf decking. Resolved to reduce the consent fee to £1 Is Od and to refund Messrs Graham and Reed the sum of one guinea which was paid under protest. Resolved to instruct the pilot to remove obstruction at Rush Flat. Resolved to endorse the secretary’s action in confirming royalty on sand at 9d per yard for 16 yards per month and fid per yard for quantity in excess of lfi yards per month.
Resolved to refuse receipt of iuiiammable goods unless consignee is prepared to take immediate delivery and on no account to store same.
It was decided on the motion of /Ur. Nash, seconded by Mr. Kellow, that in future complaints and. claims he dealt with by the secretary and local committee.
