FOXTON CROQUET CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Croquet Club was held at the pavilion on Wednesday last. There was a fair attendance, presided over by Mr. Heves, president of the Bowling Club.
The annual report and balancesheet were read and discussed. The report disclosed that four playing members had left the district during the year, and that five new players had joined. A day every week had been set aside for the phrpose of coaching the new members. A shop day bad been held to raise money for top-dressing the green and £8 was realised.
Mr. Bryant’s trophy for the single’s tournament won by Mrs. Barr, Mrs. Owen being second, and Mrs. McMurray was winner of the points prize. The Wednesday afternoon tournament was won by Mrs. McMurray in the “A” grade, and Mrs. Sutton in the “B” grade. The balance-sheet showed receipts amounting to £l2 11s 7d and expenditure £l2 9s 6d, leaving a credit of 9/6. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: — President: Mrs. Pearson; vicepresident: Mrs. .Perreau; secretary: Mrs. Barr (Mrs. Moore to act pro. tern.); committee: Miss Speirs, Mrs R. Easton, Mrs. Sutton. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Perreau for her enthusiasm during the season. Mrs. Perreau had acted both as president and c-retary for a considerable time. Mr. Heyes then addressed the meeting on behalf of the members of the Bowling Club, explaining the , financial '(or. unfmancial) position,-:)*-and asking the co-operation of the Croquet ladies in regard to holding a ball on August 16th. It was decided that the croquet players meet the bowlers at a meeting to be held , in the Racing Club office at 7.30 * p.m. on Thursday next, to discuss and arrange for a Bowling and Croquet Club ball.
