The London Daily Telegraph says that it lias excellent authority for stating that the Archbishopric of Canterbury will be offered to Dr. Cosmo G. Lang, Archbishop of York, who is willing to accept. An official announcement is expected shortly.
Mr. J. McC. Dickson, who has represented Chalmers since 1914, lias intimated that lie will not seek re-election at the forthcoming general election. At the request of a number of electors in various parts of the Chalmers electorate Mr. A. E. Ansell has consented to offer liims|elf as a candidate for this seat in the Reform interests.
“My name is Goldberg—Maurice Goildherg—but as CloMburg is !a very Jewish name I called myself Goldsborough, which is more palatable. I have had that name for twenty years,” said Maurice Goldsborough in the Supreme Court at Wellington last week.
The interesting discovery of a full-grown kiwi in the garden of a house in Station Road, Avondale, was mgde last week by Donald Graham, son of Mr. and Airs. A. Graham (says the Herald). The boy was searching for a liedge-hog which hail escaped. In looking in some long grass in a neighbour’s house he suddenly came across the kiwi, which was a large, bird, and in excellent condition. It was liberated shortly afterwards.
An albino pheasant displayed in the Franklin court at the Winter Show at Auckland . has attracted wide attention. About 15 years ago when a winter show was staged in Auckland a pure white pheasant was included in the Whnngarei court, and Franklin responded by exhibiting a similar bird. ' At that time there were a number of albino pheasants in the Whakapara and Puhipuhi districts. In the .latter locality the existence of two pure white pheasants was known for several years, and although spoilsmen diligently pursued them it was without result, says the Star.
