A fine, exciting melodrama of railway life “The Black Diamond Express,” with Monte Blue in the leading role will be screened at the Town Hall to-night. The story concerns a railroad engineer and his adventures while on the road. There is a thrilling hold-up by bandits, one of whom is the hero’s own brother, and there is a death-defy-ing race with a wild car. Also comedy and News, N.Z. Scenic. Usual prices. A smart comedy drama “Publicity Madness,” will top the bill on Monday. Edmund Lowe and Lois Moran are the featured players. Usual priees. ROYAL.
The greatest of all war pictures “Mons” will screen at the Royal tonight only. Here in the film we can see the very onslaught of those grey
hordes and, in imagination, can fight with the old “Contemptibles” that stubborn and wearing battle. We see Lieut. Dease fighting with a machine gun till the wounds he could no longer move; Corporal Jarvis of the R.E. blowing up Jenappes bridge under the heaviest fire; the saving of the guns of the 119th Battery R.F.A.; the Guards at Landreciesp Le Cateau; the crest-line charge of the Highlanders; St. Quentin; L Battery; the Queen’s Bay and the Middlesex at Nery; and other glorious incidents too numerous to mention. Many humorous scenes have also been included in the film including some highly diverting incidents in French billets. Altogether “Mons” is a picture that should be seen by every British man, woman and child. Prices 1/- and 1/6. Children half price.
