MANAWATU-OROUA RIVER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING,
There were present at Thursday’s meeting of the Board: Messrs IV. Carter (in the chair), A. Seifert, J. Richardson, H. Barber, R. Tanner, H. Akers, B. G. Gower and J. G. Harrison. An apology for absence was received from Mr A. Buchanan. FLOOD RECORDERS. iVord was received that the automatic flood indicators, had arrived in Palmerston North, and it was decided to have them erected as soon as possible. When these were installed information regarding the height of the Manawatu river at Fitzherbert bridge will be supplied by the Press. ’ MAiNAWATU-OROUA RIVER SCHEME. The chairman reported that matters had been advanced a step, and as soon as Mr Furkert’s report was available the Board would interview the Prime Minister, the Minister of Lands, and the Minister of Public Works. A telegram was received from Mr J. Linklater, M.P., stating that he had interviewed Mr Furkert, chief engineer of the Public Works Department with regard to reporting on the Manawatu-Oroua river scheme. He had pointed out that the scheme had recently been reported upon for the Public Works Department by Mr Woods, assistant Public Works engineer. Mr Linklater said lie was also obtaining all data available in connection with the scheme, and was going thoroughly into the matter.
