FIRST DAY’ AT AAIELLINGTON
For the first day of the Wellington races yesterday the weather was fine but the going heavy. There was a large attendance. The totalisator put through £48,679 10s compared with £42,524 last year. Details of the racing are as under :
Victoria Hack Hurdles. —S. *J. Easton’s br.g. San Pedro (W. J. Bowden) 1, Troilns 2, Home Made 8. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time 3.30 J. Trial Plate—Toxeuma 1, Roscrea 2, Consent 3. Won by a length. Time 1.18.
First Hack Steepecliase. —Matu 1, Radiate 2, San Fera 3. Won by a length. Time 5.394. Stewards’ Handicap.—Taboo 1, Panther 2, Duke'Abbey 3. Won by a head. Time 1.19}.
Weiling’ton Stee;plecliase. —Pouri 1, Kawini 2, Passin’ Through 3. Won by fifteen lengths. Time 6.24.
Trentham Hurdles Handicap. Gaze (W. J. Bowden) 1, Aberfeldy 2, Kauri Park 3. Won by a length. Time 3.284.
Whyte Memorial Handicap. — Black Mint 1, Nuknmai (W. J. Bowden) 2, Dayguard 3. Won by a longhead. Time 1.50;}.
Te Aro Hack Handicap.—Freezecut 1, Pangolin 2, Carinthia 3. •
