Mr and Mrs .J. Reid are on a visit to their son, Mr H. Reid, of Foxton. Mr Reid recently had a 1,000 mile tour through portion of the Australian continent as advance agent for St. Leon’s circus. He will return to Australia to take up the advance trail towards the end of this month, and will be accompanied by Mrs Reid, In conversation with our representative, Mr Reid said hotel accommodation and convenances outside the big centres of Australia were far below the New Zealand standard. In many towns there was no sewerage system, and the flies were a pest. The service on (lie railways also suffered in comparison with New Zealand. Most of his journeys were accomplished per motor car. Mr Reid said his trip will extend for a period of ten months.
