PARLIAMENT.
The sitting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday was brief. Following formal business, references were made to members and ex-members df the Legislature who died during the recess, and resolutions were passed placing on record Parliament’s appreciation of. the services rendered to the country by them. As_ a mark of respect the House adjourned at 4.5 p.m. until 2.30 yesterday. The Address-in-Reply debate was inaugurated in the House of Representatives last night by- Mr. F. Waite (Clutha), who included many subjects of interest in the speech with which he moved the formal resolution. The seconder was Mr. A. Bell (Bay of Islands), and the adjournment was moved at 9.30 by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. H. E. Holland), who, upon resumption of the debate today, will move his no-confidence motion in the Government. Purely formal business was taken at the .afternoon sitting, which lasted thirty-five minutes. The House rose at 9.30 p.m.
