PERSONAL.

The engagement is announced of Vera Pearl, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Prior, of Moutoa, to Philip Richard, eldest son of Mr. T. Hart, of Foxton. ■Mr. J. A. Perreau, father of Mr. M. E. Perreau, Eoxton’s Mayor, is in his ninety-eighth year. The old gentleman, who resides with his son in Duncan Street, is comparatively lit, but bis eyesight and hearing are affected. In conversation with our representative recently Mr. Perreau deplored these disabilities, more particularly his inability to read. His memory is wonderfully clear and he is always pleased to have a chat with residents who call upon him.
