SCHOOL ESSAYS.

PREFERENCE TO BRITISHMADE GOODS. .

Tlu* C. M. Ross Co., offered prizes to school children for the best essays on the subject: “Why preference should be given to Britishmade goods and to New Zealandmade goods in particular.” The essays were arranged in conjunction with Empire week. The essays were written in slhool and Messrs Poole and Trueman were appointed judges. Leister Thompson was the winner in the primary school and Malcolm Mason in the secondary. The essays will be forwarded to Palmerston and will be judged in competition with similar essays from the Palmerston scholars.

The local essays will be published at a laler date.
