WELL-KNOWN MAN’S ARREST.
WIFE’S MAINTENANCE PROCEEDINGS.
Palliatua, June 29
The maintenance case adjourned from Hamilton, in which J. B. Westlake, a well-known resident living for some time past in the Waikato, is concerned, was further adjourned for Auckland evidence. Defendant was further admitted to bail of £SO.
Wlestlake, a Justice of the Peace, is said to be a very wealthy man. He is separated from his wife, who lives here. The latter instituted proceedings, the allegations being that Westlake was about to leave the Dominion without making provision for her. Counsel argued the matter at length. Westlake’s solicitor complained strongly of his arrest and the proceedings at Hamilton, characterising them as disgraceful.
