FORTY YEARS’ SERVICE
GISBORNE TOWN CLERK.

The conclusion of 40 years’ service by Mr. R. D. B. Robinson as Town Clerk of Gisborne was marked last evening by a dinner attended by past Mayors and past and present councillors of Gisborne. Mr. Coleman, the Mayor, presided. In the course of the speeelimakin" it was mentioned that Mr. Robinson had been the youngest Town Clerk ever appointed in the Dominion, being promoted from office boy to Town Clerk while yet in his teens. He had also a. greater number of years of service as Town Clerk to his credit than any other in New, Zealand. A reminiscent note was struck by past Mayors aud councillors, who traced the progress and advancement of the borough since its inception in 1887. Mr Robinson was presented with an inscribed gold pendant to mark the completion of his forty years service and a handsome clock from past Mayors.
