GAS WORKS.

APRIL WORKING-. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of August was 342,200 ft., which with the amount in the holder on April Ist 15,000 ft. made a total of 357,200 ft. During the month 292,500 ft. was used by consumers, 20,000 ft. at the works and there was 15,000 ft. in the holder on May Ist, making a total of 327,500 ft. accounted for and leaving 29,700 ft. representing 8.7 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirtythree tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 10,369 c.ffc. of gas to the ton and producing 5 tons of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £144 5s lOd and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £35 0s Od, heat and power £96 19s 2d, coke sales £3 2s sd, tar sales £4 0s 6d, fittings £5 Is 3d, miscellaneous 2/6.

The expenditure for the month totalle<k£264 Is Od, and was made up as follows: —Coal £92 13s 6d, salaries and wages £SO 14s Od, services and fittings £2 2s 7d, engine oil £lB 14s Od, working ,expenses 18/10, insurance £8 17s lOd, rates £26 7s 9d, sundries 5/3, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported that the plant at the works was operating satisfactorily. Several blocked services and fittings were cleaned out during the month. —Adopted.
