BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the I’oxton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last evening. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. A motion of sympathy was passed to ex Councillor E. G. Martin in his recent bereavement. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From the Foxton Plunket Society asking for the usual donation.—£2 2s Od. —Granted. From the Main Highways Board, asking what sign boards the Council wocld require to complf with the Highway regulations.—Referred to Public Works Committee. From the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, stating that it was unable to assist financially with the installing of gas in the motorists camping area. —Received.
GENERAL. The sub-division of the Coley Estate and Mr. Aldridge’s property were agreed to. Mr. A. Fraser was appointed assessor for the Borough of Foxton. WATERWORKS FOREMAN’S REPORT.
The waterworks foreman reported that during the month drains taking the water from the showers at the baths were altered and a start made repairing the pound cottage verandah and roof. The maximum current used at the pumping station was 30 amps.— Adopted.
ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT. The road foreman reported as follows:—
During the month the staff has been engaged cleaning drains in Union and Purcell Streets, Avenue Road east of Spring Street, Baker and Howan Streets and No. 6 Line; repairing breaks in bitumen Union, Park and Main Streets, widening culvert crossing No. ( 6 Line; patching and grading Avenue and Norbiton Roads, Purcell, Duncan, Spring and Baker Streets and general maintenance work. Moutoa Road is at present being patched will pit metal and will be graded. —Adopted.
