WANDERING STOCK

Several persons were charged 'by Mr. Berry (ranger for the Manawatu County Council) with allowing stock to wander on the County roads, at yesterday’s S.M. Court, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M.
Air. Berry mentioned .that the practice was becoming acute, especially on Sundays and at nights when people thought he would not be about. The habit of allowing stock to wander on the road was very dangerous and he had received numerous complaints from motorists. J. Bargli, charged with allowing 27 head of stock to wander on the Main Drain Road at Glen Oroua on a Sunday was fined £1 with costs 15/-. T. Lawler, for grazing a horse on the same road on a Sunday was fined 10/- with costs 15/-. T. Royal, who permitted seven cows to stray on Bowe’s Road, Marotiri, at night time was mulcted in £1 with costs 15/-. The placing of two horses on the Taikorea road on the evening of the 21st May, cost R. Hill £1 with costs 15/-. A. Groom, with a previous conviction was fined £1 with costs 15/- for allowing four cows to wander on the Hiinatangi road.
