HOUSE WARMING
Last evening a surprise party held a “house warming” at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. Martin, of Thynne Street. Bagpipes gave the evening a good old Scottish touch and the party headed by Piper Couch, paraded around the house to the skirl of the pipes. A •most enjoyable evening was spent with songs and music and the health of Mr. and Mrs. Martin was proposed by Mr. G. Alexander, who referred to the many sterling qualities and the high esteem in which the happy couple were held locally. He wished them on behalf of their many friends, health, happiness and prosperity. Mr. Martin suitably replied. At a later juncture Mr. E. Sutton, on behalf of Mr. Martin’s employers and fellow workers, called on him to accept a cheque as a mark of the esteem in which he is held by those with whom he is associated in a business capacity. Mr. Sutton also referred to the ability and integrity of Mr. Martin and wished both lie and his wife every success for the future. . Mr. G. Rough endorsed Mr. Sutton’s remarks.
The evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
