RENUNCIATION OF WAR.
NEW ZEALAND WILL COOPERATE.
The terms of the New Zealand Government’s reply to the invitation extended to New Zealand by the United States Government to become an original party to the proposed multilateral treaty for the renunciation of war (which has been conveyed to the United States Charge d’Affnirs in London in the absence of the United States Ambassador by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs) were announced by the Prime Minister (Right Hon,. ,J. G. Coates) yesterday. They are as under: —
II is Majesty’s Government in New Zealand have received with warm appreciation the invitation extended to New Zealand to become an original party to the treaty proposed by the Government of. the United States for the renunciation of war. They welcome the opportunity in co-operation with His Majesty’s Governments in other parts of the British Empire or associating themselves with the Gov eminent- of the United States in this movement to add greater security to the peace of the world, and they will be happy to share in any negotiations leading to the conclusion of the proposed treaty.
